Portfolio

My 2023 resolution involved a digital detox, I deleted time-sucking apps on my phone and picked up my sketchbook. I have been drawing—early morning, while waiting, on breaks, at the end of the day.  While creating, I happened upon the statement, “Those who teach the most about humanity aren’t always human”, and my casual sketches transformed into the stages of life—Childhood, Adolescence, Adulthood, Parenthood, Old Age. As a designer, creating artwork in graphic form with unexpected integration of fonts and imagery is a natural expression of my work. Often when creating art, the meaning does not arise from the text or imagery alone, it emerges from the combination of illustration and words.  Sometimes,  I look for inspirational quotes and interpret the meaning with a drawing. This time, I drew first and found the words later. This collection has reminded me to savor and celebrate each rite of passage. The art is hand drawn with pencil, scanned, and then digitally painted and printed on Cintra 1/8" board. Watermark is not on purchased art.
